My my, how time flies!! Nearly 4 months ago, CYMKivsti from across Canada flocked to Edmontonchuk for the National CYC Convention...and what a LEGENDARY convention it was!!
Від 11-го до 14-го серпня цього року, відбувалося 57-ий з'їзд організацій Союзу Українців Самостійників. Близько 200 делегатів брали участь на з'їзд, яку мало тему: "Нас Поклик До Праці Зиває- Our Future Calls Us." This convention celebrated the longevity and achievements of our component organizations of CYC, marking many anniversaries, notably, the 80th of CYMK!!
CYMK played a prominent role throughout the convention. The National CYMK Executive organized an educational bus tour across Alberta named "Kalyna Country Catechism," focusing on our faith, while tying in the 120th anniversary of Ukrainian Immigration to Canada. CYMK also surprised the CYC family with an impromtu “flashmob” scene of Ukrainian folk song and dance in the 2nd floor hotel lobby! Not only were CYMKivtsi featured as MC's for all convention banquets, we facilitated a joint session of the СУС delegates regarding the future of СУМК, as well as organized the Saturday evening banquet and zabava, which focused on the 80th anniversary of СУМК. СУМКівці past and present took a trip on the СУМК "time machine" exploring significant moments in CYMK's history through a dinner-theatre format. The program integrated lively song, dance and dramatic performances which showcased all provinces in attendance, as well as included the presentation of trophies and accolades to deserving СУМК locals and outstanding leaders.

For the 2011-2013 season, the National CYMK Exec is introducing a few changes in the line-up...we are happy to announce that former National CYMK Presidents, David Makowsky & Tania Mysak, are joining our ranks as esteemed advisors! Tania Shapka has also moved up the ranks to fill the position of VP. Our team is firing on all cylinders and are ready to bring you another fantastic season in CYMK!
