CYMKivtsi!! Here are a few new icebreakers to try at your next CYMK function, especially if you have guests or new members joining you!
Human Knot – Form groups of roughly 8 people. First, have everyone stand in a circle facing each other. Then have everyone extend their left hand into the circle and grab another participant’s hand. Next, have everyone extend their right hand across the circle and grab a different person’s hand. Now, check that no one has joined hands with a person directly next to them in the circle. The group must then communicate and work together to solve the knot and untangle themselves without letting go of any joined hands.
Guess the Celebrity – Prepare a set of labels with the name of a well-known celebrity written on each. Have the organizer stick a label on each person’s back without them seeing and then announce the start of the game. Participants mingle, introduce themselves to each other and ask yes or no questions to gain clues about the celebrity on their back. Once a person guesses correctly, they can remove the sticker and mingle as usual.
Desert Island – Form small groups of 4-8 people. The scenario is that each group is stranded on a desert island and each person can only choose 1 item to bring with them. Groups have only a few minutes to go around to each person, have them explain the item they would bring and why, along with what they would do with the item. The group then discusses ways to combine the items or use them together to improve their chances of survival. After 10 minutes of brainstorming, have each group present their ideas and the most creative groups may receive a prize.
